The Regulation of the Minister of Industry No 24/M-IND/PER/4/2013, The Indonesian National Standard Toys Compulsory, establishes mandatory safety requirements for toys. Indonesian National Standard (abbreviated SNI) is the only standard nationally applicable in Indonesia. SNI was formulated by the Technical Committee and defined by BSN.(National Standardization Agency of Indonesia).
The Regulation applies to toys, defined to mean products or materials designed and intended for children up to the age of 14, with consideration on the normal behavior of a child as well as the possibility of improper usage in accordance with the habits of a child.
Per the Regulation, the following Indonesian standards are mandatory:
Standard1：SNI ISO 8124-1:2010
- Parameter：Mechanical and physical properties
Standard2：SNI ISO 8124-2:2010
Standard3：SNI ISO 8124-3:2010
- Parameter：Migration of toxic elements
Standard4：SNI ISO 8124-4:2010
- Parameter：Swings, slides and similar activity toys for indoor and outdoor use
Standard5：SNI IEC 62115:2011
- Parameter：Electrical toys
- Parameter1：Azo dyes
Manufacturers must certify that toys comply with the appropriate mandatory SNI safety standards and must obtain the Indonesian National Standard Certification Mark (SPPT-SNI) issued by the Institute of Product Certification, in accordance with the National Standard Guidelines (PSN) 302:2006.
Additionally, Indonesia issued Regulation No. 09/BIM/PER/9/2013, to provide technical guidelines on the mechanism for the implementation of Indonesian National Standards (SNI) on toys' marking and certification.
The Regulation clarifies the scope of the standard and, describes the procedure for obtaining the SNI conformity certificate, testing method, product marking etc.
TÜV SÜD Hong Kong and Shenzhen laboratory were accredited by the Ministry of Industry (MoI) of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the enforcement and supervision on compulsory Indonesian National Standard (SNI) on Toys.
