In order to align with the EU New Legislative Framework (NLF), 8 EU directives providing for the affixing of the CE marking which listed in “alignment package” has been recast and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 2014-03-29.
The core laws included in NLF are (EC)765/2008 for accreditation and market surveillance, and 768/2008/EC on a common framework for the marketing of products.
The purpose of the recast of these directives is to:
1. Clarify the definitions and obligations of economic operators on the EU market, especially for the obligations related to manufacturer and importer; Manufacturer has the sole duty of conformity assessment of the product. Both of manufacturers and importers shall be identified easily.
2. Use the more comprehensive measure to trace back the supply chain of product, and enhance the market surveillance activity to prohibit the non-compliance product or product presents risk to be made available on the EU market.
