Food safety goes beyond just the food item itself – Food contact materials are also an essential element in ensuring a food grade article does not contaminate or deteriorate the food it contains.
The Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food will fully enter into force on 1 January 2016. From that date onwards, testing on the overall migration of non-volatile substances will need to be performed using a new set of standardized testing conditions. In addition, testing on the migration of specific substances will be mandatory for all plastics.
To understand how the new regulation on food contact materials will impact food safety and the challenges it will bring, we cordially invite you to our food grade workshop.
