EU: REACH restriction on lead in consumer products will apply from 1 June 2016
REACH published a restriction on lead in consumer products on 23 April 2015. It will apply to all consumer products that can be placed in the mouth by children. This requirement will come into force from 1 June 2016.
EU: WTO draft on REACH Annex XVII restriction on DecaBDE
The European Commission (EC) submitted a draft amendment to add Bis(pentabromophenyl) ether (DecaBDE) under REACH Annex XVII. DecaBDE was identified as a SVHC and was included in the REACH Candidate list in December 2012. The proposed restriction is expected to be published on OJEC in 2016.
Vietnam: New standard QCVN 101:2016/BTTTT for Lithium battery for portable devices
Vietnam's Ministry of Information and Communication has issued a new standard for Lithium battery for portable devices. This standard will come into force on 1 October 2016.
Saudi Arabia: SASO 2870/2015 comes into force for lighting products
The Saudi Standard SASO 2870/2015 came into force since 1 May 2016. The standard covers the energy efficiency, functionality and labelling requirements for indirect and direct general light sources with a luminous flux above 60 lumens and below 12000 lumens according to two stages.
Egypt: Decree 692/2015 approves standards for lighting products
The Egyptian Decree 692/2015 was enacted on 15 September 2015, approving several Egyptian national standards for lighting products and making the standards mandatory. The decree came into force on 5 May 2016.
