TÜV SÜD, the global testing, inspection, certification and training solutions provider, has today ceremonially broken the ground on its new Singapore-based regional hub, marking the company’s first major real estate investment outside of their German headquarters. The 600 employees based in Singapore, including TÜV SÜD PSB and TÜV SÜD Digital Service Centre of Excellence (CoE), will relocate to this facility in 2020.

With effect from 15 February, Andreas Schweiger has taken the helm at the CyberSecurity Services Business Unit of the TÜV SÜD Division Business Assurance. He thus has global responsibility for IT security services and management of TÜV SÜD Sec-IT GmbH. Under his leadership, TÜV SÜDs CyberSecurity Services Business Unit will support companies in tapping the opportunities offered by digital transformation and minimising the risks involved in increasing connectivity.

In future, TÜV SÜD will be able to offer certification according to the international BREEAM standard for both existing and new buildings. BRE Global has granted an exclusive licence for certification according to BREEAM DE Neubau (BREEAM DE New Construction) to the German Institute for Sustainable Real Estate (DIFNI) at TÜV SÜD. BREEAM DE Neubau 2018 is an adaptation of the BREEAM International New Construction 2016 standard to the German market

TÜV SÜD is working intensively on the development of test methods for automated vehicles. At the Automotive Testing Expo Korea 2018, Dr Houssem Abdellatif, Head of Automated Driving and Driver Assistance Systems at the German expert organisation TÜV SÜD, will present methods of verifying the operational safety of these vehicles. He believes computer simulation needs to play a significant role in this verification.

TÜV SÜD will showcase its portfolio at the Asia Pacific Rail exhibition from 20 to 21 March 2018. As associate sponsor, the experts of the Business Unit Rail will be represented at booth M01. TÜV SÜDs presence focuses on smart rail safety solutions including independent safety assessments, virtual test methods, rail automation solutions, predictive analysis (with the help of AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber security. In an expert presentation also a systematic approach to ensure safe and reliable rail energy systems will be showcased.

Munich. DIN ISO/FDIS 45001 was published in November. Up to the end of January 2018, occupational health and safety (OH&S) experts had the possibility to submit changes to the revision of OH&S management systems and vote on the draft of the standard. That period has now expired. The draft standard received the necessary approval and the development of the standard is now entering its final phase. Publication of the standard is expected in March 2018

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and TÜV SÜD are launching a joint project to certify systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) used in autonomous driving and develop a ‘roadworthiness test’ for algorithms. To do so, the experts will explore the learning behaviours of AI systems with the aim of being able to control the systems’ reactions. The main objective is to develop an open platform, known as ‘Genesis’, for OEMs, suppliers and technology companies. The platform will be able to validate artificial intelligence modules and thus provide the basis for certifications. The project highlights TÜV SÜD’s claim to the status of leading independent testing and certification organisation in the development of autonomous driving.
