TÜV SÜD issues first ever certificate for additive manufacturing of materials and semi-finished products for pressure equipment to KSB

Pressure equipment must comply with the requirements of the EU Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. This also applies to materials and semi-finished products that are additively manufactured and used in or as pressure equipment. TÜV SÜD has now issued its first ever certificate to an additive manufacturer of materials and semi-finished products using a QM system in line with PED 2014/68/EU, Annex I, Clause 4.3. The pioneering certificate is based on a new TÜV SÜD certification programme which covers the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive and other relevant standards.

Safety in highly automated driving, digital opportunities for mobility and personal communication and exchange with the transport sector will be TÜV SÜD's focus topics at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2019, held in Frankfurt/Main from 12 to 22 September. Under the banner of “TÜV SÜD: Connected with your future”, TÜV SÜD will meet guests and visitors and discuss the above topics in the exclusive TÜV SÜD Lounge from 10 to 13 September. At the press conference on 11 September, Patrick Fruth, CEO Division Mobility, will present TÜV SÜD's broad engagement in fields such as highly automated driving, battery testing, Data Trust Centres and the use of artificial intelligence in remarketing, thus providing an outlook into the future of mobility. Further issues include global commitment to safe mobility and the digitalisation of TÜV SÜD.

Seizing the momentum for hydrogen

With its plan to establish real-world laboratories and with launching the HyLand competition, the German government has taken important steps for driving the use of hydrogen in industry and transport. TÜV SÜD and Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik GmbH (LBST) have the necessary experience and expertise to support safe harnessing of hydrogen and fuel-cell technology as well as preparation and implementation of relevant projects.

Safety of amusement parks and rides

Under the banner of “Safety for Amusement Parks and Rides”, TÜV SÜD will showcase its services at the European Attraction Show (EAS) in Paris from 17 to 19 September 2019. The international service provider's presence at the trade fair will focus on retrofit measures for existing amusement rides according to EN 13814 and the safety of amusement and water parks (Pavilion 1, Stand 2437).

Widely available and reliably functioning charging infrastructure and high-speed charging systems are important building blocks for the spread of electric vehicles. At its Straubing location, TÜV SÜD has expanded its laboratory capacities for testing charging points and electric vehicles. The experts there can now perform tests up to a power capacity of 360 kW.
