The driverless public bus services in Bad Birnbach now also connect the train station in Leithen with the city centre – a big step forward for public transport in the spa town, and a further milestone in the development of autonomous driving. TÜV SÜD's experts have played a substantial role in the development and approval of the driverless buses right from the start, with TÜV SÜD's AV (automated vehicle) Permit service package at the heart of design and development activities. Within the scope of this full-service offer, TÜV SÜD's experts assist customers worldwide with the entire approval process and provide advisory services from an early stage of planning. Focal topics of AV Permit are vehicle safety and functional safety, cybersecurity and the applicable requirements of local law governing autonomous vehicle approval. TÜV SÜD’s involvement with the first autonomous bus to run in public service in Germany underlines the company’s leading position as a technical services and inspection body in the design and development of autonomous driving.

TÜV SÜD's experts will participate in forums and an interactive workshop at the 3rd Munich Technology Conference (MTC3), taking place from 8 to 10 October. They will discuss various issues, including ways of preparing additive manufacturing for serial production. Conference participants include the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the companies of Oerlikon, GE Additive, McKinsey, Linde, Siemens and TÜV SÜD.

On September 24th, TÜV SÜD awarded ISO 14155 certificates to three general hospitals of Korea University Medicine (KU Medicine) in Korea. With this certification, Korea University Medicine is able to claim compliance to the ISO 14155 standard when conducting clinical investigations with medical devices.

TÜV SÜD Product Service has issued their first Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certificate since receiving notification in May 2019. The MDR which came into force in May 2017, must be implemented by late May 2020.
